This month, we chatted with our amazing friends Mim and Simon about their experience so far with their new Hilltop Feathertop.

Q: Tell us a bit about your story and how you came to Set Up Camp.
A: We love camping and the great outdoors, always have. When we go to camping and caravan shows, we always visit Dave and the team, and eventually really got to know and trust them.
We were drawn to Set Up Camp because they are a family and treat you like family. Their values, care for their customers, warranties and service are all simply brilliant.
The OP2 we bought from them has been amazing, and we’ve travelled extensively in Queensland and the NT with it. When we told Dave our idea for doing the lap in something bigger that we could just get in and sleep, he knew just the right thing. And so here we are, with our new Hilltop!
Q: How’s your experience been so far with the Hilltop?
A: It’s honestly everything we needed! So far, it’s towed really well. We’ve sold our house now, so we’re completely in the Hilltop now and loving it. We’ve had no issues, it’s easy to reverse, and handles rough roads nicely.
Q: How did you decide what model and specifications?
A: We wanted the best of both worlds – enough space to live comfortably, but agile enough for full off-road capabilities. We landed on the Feathertop 19.6 with an upgraded Cruisemaster suspension, 6 lithium batteries and additional solar panels. Ultimately, Dave and the team knew exactly what we needed and really took care of us.
Q: Do you have any advice for people wanting to do the lap or just camp more in general?
A: Research and go for short trips first. Increase the trips in length to make sure the lap is something you really want to do. But for general camping, just go for it! It’s Australia, nothing is stopping you from camping to your heart’s content. It’s truly brought us so much joy over the years.
